Northern Bedford County High School is pleased to announce Mr. Craig Curfman’s Engineering byDesign students have been chosen as a State Finalist in the 2023 Samsung Solve For Tomorrow competition. As a state finalist, NB will receive $2500 in prize money, with the possibility of winning up to $100,000 as the competition progresses. So far in the 5 years NB has entered the competition, they have been a state finalist 4 times and a state winner once. The school has received $26,500 in prize money to upgrade and replace computers and equipment in the Technology Education/Engineering byDesign classroom, in addition to technology upgrades in other classrooms.

Each year Samsung hosts the $2 million national competition for public schools grades 6–12 in which students are asked to consider how science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) can be used to create change in their communities. With the help of their teachers, students can apply to the contest and compete to win up to $100,000 in prizes for their school, plus the opportunity to work with Samsung employees to develop their prototypes.
