     hi

    Hello NBC students and parents!
Thank you for stopping by to check out our class website.  My name is Katie Hazenstab, and I teach third grade here at Northern Bedford Elementary.  I would like to take a moment to share a little bit of information about myself with you.

    My Background

I was raised in Martinsburg, PA and graduated from Central High School in 2001. I then went on to attend classes at Penn State Altoona and earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education with a focus in mathematics and science in 2005.  In 2009, I received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University. The 2020-2021 school year will be my fifteenth year teaching third grade at Northern Bedford Elementary. (I can hardly believe it!) I just love third grade!

Here I am in Third Grade!                          Here I am now!
                                   Do you recognize me?

    My Family

I live in Roaring Spring with my husband Colby, my son Heath, daughter Quinn, my dog Kit, and cat Jinky Robot (Heath named her.). I'm also expecting my third child in October. I have three sisters (Rachel, Natalie, and Rebecca.) Rachel is a kindergarten teacher for the Hollidaysburg School District, and her husband, Garry Black, is a teacher here at NBC. Natalie is a marketing manager at the Village Green in Martinsburg. Rebecca, my youngest sister, is a pharmacist (like my dad).

Here I am with my baby (I mean dog) Kit. She is a Teddy Bear Shichon.
Doesn't she look so snuggly? I love her to pieces!

    My Interests

My high energy little tykes Heath and Quinn take up most of my time these days. I enjoy spending time with family and seeing all my nieces and nephews.  I also like to shop, go out to eat, check out pinterest, and look for new ways to make learning in my classroom fun and engaging. During the summer, I spend time swimming, going to the beach, and roasting marshmallows. I love sitting around a fire and cooking up some yummies!
